Flexotherm Heated Smoke Stack Sample Lines are used in smokestack testing to prevent condensation from forming inside the line. The hot, moist stack gas must be transported to a remote analyzer for measurement. As the gas travels, it cools, which would cause the water vapor and other components to condense, contaminating the sample and damaging the equipment.
The Heated Smokestack Sample Line is equipped with internal heating elements, such as resistance wires, that keep the tubing at a consistently high temperature. For many applications, the line is kept at 180°C (356°F) or even 191°C (375.8°F), a standard temperature specified by the EPA for total hydrocarbon analysis. This temperature ensures that all components, including moisture and VOCs, remain in a gaseous phase during transport from the stack to the analyzer.
